Stocklots are the heart of our trade: paper from major mills at a reduced price. Here is what they really are — and how to profit from them.
STOCKLOTS, WITHOUT THE JARGON
"Stocklot" raises eyebrows. In plain words: it is quality paper sold below mill price, for good reasons. The straight-talking guide.
What exactly is a stocklot?
A stocklot is a lot of paper from a major paper mill sold outside its normal channel: overruns, end of series, a slight spec deviation, a customer's cancelled programme, or simply the mill's need to clear warehouse space.
It is not reject paper: most of the time it is first quality, off the same machines as standard production — just available at the wrong moment, or in a tonnage that didn't fit an order.
Stocklots, side runs, job lots: the family
You will meet several words for close cousins:
- Side run — paper produced alongside a main order: same machine, same quality, a non-standard width or a small leftover tonnage.
- Job lot — a batch sold as is, often mixed references, priced to move.
- Mill surplus / destocking — perfectly standard paper the mill simply needs out of its warehouse.
All of them share the same logic: real paper, real specs, discounted because of timing — not because of quality.
Why it costs less
For the mill, a sleeping lot costs money (storage, cash flow). Selling it fast, even below list price, beats keeping it. The result: prices frequently 20 to 30% below mill price.
Quality: what to expect
Most of our stocklots are standard commercial quality with precise references. When a lot has a particularity (slight grammage deviation, tint, edge damage…), we tell you — and the price reflects it.

How to receive the offers
Stocklots move fast. The most effective route: tell us once and for all the grades and grammages that interest you — offset, kraft, coated, board, carbonless — and we alert you the moment a matching lot comes in.

A good stocklot can be gone in days. Two winning reflexes: decide fast when a lot fits your need, and combine references to fill a container or a truck — the freight cost per tonne then becomes unbeatable.
On arrival: the same rigour
As with any purchase, check the lot on delivery against the packing list and note any reservation on the delivery document. With exact references and photos upfront, surprises are rare.

Is stocklot paper low quality?
