NEWSPRINT — WHAT IT IS USED FOR

Newsprint is a light, economical paper made mainly from recycled and mechanical fibres. Uncoated, it absorbs ink quickly: it is the classic paper of the press and high-volume print. Prodiconseil, a French paper merchant since 1991, supplies it from stock and on request, in reels as well as sheets.

Beyond printing, newsprint is also one of the most widely used protective papers: light, soft and inexpensive, it crumples and rolls easily to cushion, protect and interleave. One paper for two worlds — printing and packaging.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is newsprint?

Newsprint is a light, economical paper made mainly from recycled and mechanical fibres. Its uncoated surface absorbs ink quickly, which makes it the classic paper for newspapers, flyers and notebooks, and also an excellent protective and void-fill packaging paper.

Can newsprint be used for packaging and void fill?

Yes. Newsprint is widely used for cushioning and protection: void fill in parcels, moving and removal wrap, wrapping of parts and crockery, and interleaving between products. Light and inexpensive, it crumples easily to fill the empty space in a box.
